WINTHROPMemorial services for 72 year old Lois A. Allen, Winthrop and Olmstedville, NY will be held at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood at a later date. Mrs. Allen passed away on Wednesday at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Lois is survived by her husband of 40 years, Sterling, Winthrop; a son Peter and Janie McCormick, Illionis; her three daughters, Anita Williams and her companion Dennis Bond, Potsdam; Marie Pelletier, North Creek; Tracey Lynn and Michael French, Nebraska and her three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Lois was pre-deceased by her sister Margaret Peggy Kolberg.
Born in Staten Island on June 22, 1942 to the late Peter and Anita Opdyke Olechowski, she married Sterling K. Allen on April 20, 1974. Lois worked at the Mirnerva Central School District for 30 years, retiring as the head custodian and bus driver. Previously, Lois worked in the nursing field. She enjoyed golfing, quilting and spending time with her family, friends and grandchildren. She was an avid outdoorswoman, enjoying hunting, fishing and watching deer and she loved traveling to see all the lighthouses.
