NORFOLKA Memorial Mass for 78 year old Florence M. Poppy Monroe will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk with Rev. Msgr. John Murphy presiding. Mrs. Monroe passed away March 2, 2015 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.buckfuneralhome.com . NORFOLKServices for 78 year old Florence M. Poppy Monroe, Norfolk, will be held at a later date. There will be no calling hours at this time. Mrs. Monroe passed away late Monday evening at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Florence is survived by her three sons, Kevin and Kensie Monroe; Matthew and Robin Monroe and Claude and Lois Monroe Jr, all of Norfolk; her daughters Donna Kaiser, JoAnn OConnell, Mary and Greg Monroe and Lori and Robert Queor, all of Norfolk; 26 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Poppy is also survived by her sisters Sue LaComb, Massena; Mary and George Kielak, Las Vegas, Nevada and many nieces and nephews. Poppy was pre-deceased by her daughters, Cynthia Houle and Claudia Clough; a grand-daughter Nicole Clough; her brothers Richard and Lawrence LaComb and a sister Joyce Cantwell.
Born in Massena, NY on May 2, 1936 to the late Hermon and Harriett Love LaComb, Florence married Claude I. Tony Monroe Sr. on January 12, 1952. Tony passed away on July 16, 2003. Florence was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, baking homemade foods and helping other people out. Memorial Donations in her memory can be made to any local cancer center.
