NORWOOD—Funeral services for 88 year old Vernon C. Moody, a resident of the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena and formerly of Park Street, Norwood, will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood with Pastor Lee Sweeney of the Knapps Station Community Church presiding. Burial will be held in the spring. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mr. Moody passed away Sunday morning at the St. Regis Nursing Home. Vernon is survived by his wife of 61 years, June, Norwood; a daughter, Bonnie Moody Oemcke, Norwood and his special grandson, Detective Michael Hartson and his wife, Kaci and their children Grayson, Koulston and Aubrey, Marion, SC. Vernon is also survived by his brother Walter and Georgina Moody, Norfolk and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents, a brother Wallace and his sisters Irma, Frances, Irene and Freda. Born in Norfolk on August 31, 1926 to the late Willard and Bertha Thompson Moody, he married June W. Castle on July 4, 1953. He worked for ALCOA in Massena as a laborer for 37 years, retiring in 1988. Vernon was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, boating, snowmobiling and just being in the woods. He loved to travel with June, taking many trips locally and traveling to Maine and New Hampshire as well. In the summertime, he took great pride in his lawn.
