NORFOLKFuneral services for 81 year old Harry S. Dusty Ryan, a resident of 5 Second Street, Norfolk, will be held Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk with Rev. Msgr. John Murphy presiding. Burial will be held in the Visitation Cemetery, Norfolk. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mr. Ryan passed away early Tuesday morning at his home.
Harry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda, Norfolk; a son, Michael and Wendy Ryan, Norfolk; three daughters, Kathryn and Kevin Adkins, Port Lions, Alaska; Bonnie and Andrew Chichester, Potsdam; Theresa and Craig Bell, Delta Junction, Alaska; five grandchildren; Letitia and Patrick Ryan, Amy Adkins and Noah and Daniel Chichester. He is also survived by two brothers, Harold and Mary Ryan, Waddington; William Ryan, Nashua, NH and five sisters, Lillian and Lloyd Casler, Syracuse; Shirley Ryan, Norfolk; Maude and Lloyd Simons, Fort Edward, NY; Nellie Beaulieau, Massena and Claudia and Andy Barber, Norfolk. Harry was pre-deceased by his brothers Paul and Francis Ryan and his sisters Mary Eurto and Pauline Murray.
Born in Norfolk on February 27, 1933 to the late Floyd S. and Marion Gooshaw Ryan, he attended school and later entered the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. Harry married Linda Mosher on August 22, 1959. He worked as a loader in the Wire, Rod and Bar Department for ALCOA in Massena, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the ALCOA 25 year Club, the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk where he was very humbled to be an Eucharistic Minister and an Altar server. He also made soup every year for the church bazaar and was well known for his culinary skills. Harry also enjoyed traveling to Alaska to visit with his family and friends.
