Obituary of Lois M. Gooshaw

NORFOLK-- Graveside services for 83 year old Lois M. Gooshaw, 105 Adams Road, will be held at the convenience of the family in the Bixby Cemetery, Norfolk. There will be no calling hours. Mrs. Gooshaw passed away Tuesday morning at her home surrounded by her family. Lois is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ronald; a son, Edward and Mary Gooshaw, Potsdam; two daughters, Jennifer and Stephen Pelkey, Brasher Falls and Lynn and Philip Brothers, Norfolk; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a sister, Sheila and Stanley “Corky” Farmer, Norwood. Lois is pre-deceased by her brothers Patrick, Roger, Lawrence, Robert and her sister Reba Degon, as well as her step brothers Noah Herne and Julius Herne and step sisters Harriet Shorey and Clara Henderson. Born in Potsdam on April 17, 1931 to the late Louis and Viola McDonald Herne, Lois married Ronald Gooshaw on June 29, 1957 at the Norfolk United Methodist Church. She worked as a cafeteria aide for several years at Norwood-Norfolk Central School, retiring in 1988. She was a member of the Norfolk American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed crafts, cross-stitching and traveling across the country.
