NORWOODFuneral services for 81 year old Edward A. Colbert, a resident of 83 Collins Road, Norwood, will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Dailey Ridge Church with Rev. Michael Sedore presiding. Burial will be held in the Riverside Cemetery in Norwood following the services. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mr. Colbert passed away Friday evening at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Edward is survived by two sons, Jack and Christina Colbert, Norwood; Jeff Colbert, Parishville; a daughter, Barbara and Bruce Perry, Fulton; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and his three sisters, Dawn and Arnold Gilbo, North Syracuse; Mary Lou Colbert and her companion Pete Lanno, Phoenix and Eileen King, Richland. Ed was pre-deceased by his wife, Beverly in 1977, a son Randy in 2007, his brother Olin Jr. and a sister Nancy Colbert.
Born in Syracuse, NY to the late Olin John and Mary Agley Colbert, Edward married Beverly Foster on May 12, 1970, who passed away seven years later. He worked at the Norwood-Norfolk Central School for 20+ years in the Maintenance Department, retiring in 1989. Edward was a member of the What Cheer Lodge in Norwood, the Massena Amvets and the Media Shriners Temple Association. Ed loved the outdoors, enjoying hunting and fishing and loved spending time with his children and family. He served in the U.S. Air Force in the 1950s.
