NORWOOD-- On May 17, 2014, our beloved Myrtle (Peggy) Lincoln, 88, went to dance in the sunshine and run in the meadows with our Lord. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood with Rev. Lee Sweeney presiding. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral. Burial will be held in the Beech Plains Cemetery in Pierrepont. She was born in Russell, NY on April 13, 1926, daughter of John and Frances Lincoln. She attended Selleck School in Pierrepont. Due to a debilitating disease, at 15 years old she went to Rome State School. In 1963 she moved to Sunmount in Tupper Lake. For the last thirty years, she lived at the Norwood NYSARC residential home. As a resident, Myrtle attended Day Hab on a daily basis where she learned new skills and spread her infectious joy and love. She spent many years volunteering at the Salvation Army in Massena. She had a beautiful spirit that could not be suppressed. She loved people (especially babies and children), attending family events and parties, shopping, gardening, sewing, summer camp at Dodge Pond, blackberry pie and COFFEE! Myrtle was awarded the Special Olympic athlete of the year in 2013. Myrtle was predeceased by brothers Harley Lincoln, Vernon Lincoln and Henry Lincoln; and sisters Marge Russell, Rose Finley and Hilda Bacon. Myrtle is survived by sisters Helena Shore, Cincinnati, Ohio; Mary Powers, Russell, NY; and Clara Lincoln, Massena, NY. Myrtle was loved by all that knew her and will be missed by many, including her very large NYSARC family. Memorial Donations can be made to NYSARC Dodge pond or Area 27 Special Olympics.
