NORFOLK Graveside services for 85 year old James W. Wing of 7 East High Street. Norfolk; will be held in the Spring at Visitation Cemetery in Norfolk. Friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk on Friday from 4-8 PM. Mr. Wing died Tuesday at Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown.
Surviving are a son James and Marcia Wing of Norfolk ; two daughters , Susan Wing of Cranberry Lake and Deborah Woodard of Adams Center. He is also survived by two grandsons, Greg Wing and Zachary Woodard and a sister - in-law Joan Bailey of Norfolk. He was pre-deceased by four sisters, Frances Harland, Wilma Curry , Bernice Eddy , and Grace Trunscott.
Born in Norfolk on May 15, 1928 , son of James Porter and Mabel Daggett Wing , he married Helen Betty Bailey on November 27, 1947. She passed away on February 12, 2005. He was employed as a chief civil deputy for the St. Lawrence County Sheriffs Department in Canton for 25 years retiring in 1992.
He was an honorary member of the Norfolk Fire Department and the Cranberry Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to Cranberry Lake and he enjoyed his wood lot. He was a veteran of both the Army and Navy. Donations may be made to the Norfolk Rescue Squad.
