SOUTH COLTONFuneral Services for 97 year old Elmer E. Fisher, 76 East Hill Road, South Colton, will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Colton with Ron Bretsch presiding. Burial will be held in the South Colton Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. Mr. Fisher passed away Tuesday morning at his home.
Elmer is survived by a son, Jerry and Jeannie Fisher, Colton; his two daughters, Sarah Sevey, Potsdam and Judy and Bruce Ames, Colton; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, his great-great grandchildren and a sister, Allie Harden, a resident of the Maplewood Campus, Canton. Elmer was pre-deceased by a son, Elmer A. Fisher, four grandchildren, five brothers, Paul, Earl, Charles, Ted, Jim and three sisters, Helen Campbell, Rachael Mullen and Dot Vanupdorp.
Born in South Colton on March 20, 1916 to the late Edward and Sarah Partridge Fisher, he married Mary N. Hubbard on September 9, 1939. Mary passed away on October 6, 2001. Elmer worked in the Maintenance Department for the Newton Falls Paper Mill for 22 years, retiring in 1978. Previously, Elmer worked on the construction of the Power Dams in Colton and South Colton, a project that he enjoyed so much. Elmer was a past member of the South Colton Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, taking care of his horses, going to church, sawing lumber and setting up lumber mills. But mostly, Elmer enjoyed watching deer and spending time with his family.
