Obituary of Shirley H. Green

NORFOLK—Funeral services for 81 year old Shirley H. Green, a resident of the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena and formerly of 19 Wheeler Lane, Norfolk, will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Norfolk United Methodist Church with Pastor Gregg Stierheim presiding. Burial will be held in the Hale Cemetery, Norfolk. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk on Monday from 4-7 p.m. Mrs. Green passed away Friday afternoon at the St. Regis Nursing Home. Shirley is survived by two sons, Terry and Nancy Green, Norfolk; Jay and Kathryn Green, Parishville; four grandchildren, Eric Green, Lauren Green, Grace Green, John North and a niece and nephew. She was pre-deceased by her son Marcus in 2006 and a brother, Edward Blanchard. Born in Norfolk on June 24, 1932 to the late Charles and Bernice Hume Blanchard, she graduated from St. Lawrence Central School in 1951. She married Walter Clifton Green on November 3, 1952 at the Norfolk United Methodist Parsonage. Walter passed away in 2002. Shirley worked at the Ames Department Store and the Bon-ton in Massena for many years. Shirley was an avid bowler and loved to play bingo. She enjoyed doing her puzzles and taking care of her cat. Most of all, she enjoyed being the “Mother Goose” of Norfolk, where all the kids would come to her house and play, eat and have fun.
