COLTON– Funeral Services for 77 year old Donald W. Barrett, of 720 County Rt. 58, Colton, will be held Sunday at 4 pm at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton, with Rev. Edwin Wright presiding. Burial will be held in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Parishville. Calling Hours will be held Sunday from 2 until the time of the funeral. Mr. Barrett passed away early Friday morning at Canton-Potsdam Hospital after a long illness. Survivors– Wife– Shirley, Colton; Son– Donald H., Massena; Daughter– Karen Barrett, Colton; 1 Grandson, Joshua Barrett, Massena; Brothers– Reginald and Judy Barrett, Parishville; Richard and Lena Barrett, Grafton, NY. He was pre-deceased by a sister Beverly Richardson. Born in Potsdam on September 20, 1930 to Ervin and Mary Clements Barrett, he attended Hopkinton and Parishville Schools. A marriage to Iris Bullock ended in divorce. He later married Shirley Shampine on June 4, 1960 in Potsdam. He worked as a truck driver for Adirondack Asphalt, of Canton, and previously drove for Atlantic Fuels and Griffith Oil. He was a member of the Teamsters, Local 687. He enjoyed playing cards and NASCAR. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parishville Fire Dept or the Parishville Rescue Squad.
