SOUTH COLTONFuneral services for 69 year old Elizabeth A. Matthie, a resident of St. Josephs Nursing Home in Ogdensburg, and formerly of 444 East Hill Road, South Colton, will be held Friday at 12 noon at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton with Pastor Tom Chappell presiding. Burial will be held in the Pleasant Mound Cemetery, Colton. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral at noon. Mrs. Matthie passed away Friday at the St. Josephs Nursing Home.
Elizabeth is survived by five sons, Hubert and Lea, South Colton; Herb and his companion Ellen Mandigo, South Colton; Homer and Carol, Harrisville; Jim and Hope, Madrid; Gerry and Kim, Parishville and a daughter, Susan and Kevin Carstens, Louisville, Kentucky. Elizabeth is also survived by 22 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, two brothers, John and Donna White, Rensselaer Falls; Gilbert White, and four sisters, Irene and Lloyd Jandreau, Knapps Station; Gladys and Kenneth Jandreau, North Lawrence; Joan Matthie, South Colton and Shirley and Alexander Jandreau, Knapps Station. She was pre-deceased by her husband, a son Billy, and three daughters, Mary Bush, Eveline Matthie, Iva Lou Gladys Matthie, a brother, Claude White and three sisters, Catherine White, Elsie Maxfield and Evelyn Charleston.
Born in Potsdam on April 13, 1943 to the late Hubert and Gladys Rivette White, Elizabeth married Martin Matthie in February of 1959. Martin passed in 1994. Elizabeth was a homemaker and enjoyed the outdoors. She loved to fish, tend to her gardens and cook. She was a hard working farm girl. Elizabeth enjoyed being with her grandchildren and loved to listen to county music. Memorial Donations can be made to the Potsdam Animal Shelter, the South Colton Rescue Squad or St. Josephs Nursing Home in Elizabeths memory.
