NORFOLKFuneral services for 101 year old Irene H. LaBarge, a resident of the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena and formerly of Norfolk, will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk with Rev. Msgr. John Murphy presiding. Burial will be held in the Visitation Cemetery in Norfolk. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. Mrs. LaBarge passed away early Thursday morning at the St. Regis Nursing Home.
Irene is survived by her son, John, Norfolk; a daughter, Barbara and Stewart Davis, Safety Harbor, FL and her seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Irene was pre-deceased by her husband Clarence, her daughter-in-law, Annie LaBarge, her three brothers, Arlington, Frederick and Clarence Bennett and her two sisters, Katherine and Ruth Bennett.
Born in Massena February 19, 1912 to the late John and Cassie McDougall Bennett, Irene married Clarence LaBarge on September 30, 1933. Clarence passed away on August 23, 1970. Irene was a homemaker and also worked at various business including Millers Drug Store, Morgans Liqueur Store, Fishmans Store in Massena and even the St. Regis Paper Company. Irene enjoyed bowling, playing cards and dancing. She was a communicant of the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk and belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society and was also a member of the Jolly Agers in Norfolk, the Golden Agers in Norwood and the Parishville Hilltoppers.
