NORWOOD-- Funeral services for 78 year old Robert G. Campbell, 3 Lakeshore Drive, Norwood, will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Potsdam United Methodist Church with Rev. James Barnes presiding. Burial will be held in the Stark Cemetery in South Colton. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mr. Campbell passed away unexpectedly Monday evening. Robert was survived by his wife of 58 years, Beverly, Norwood; his two sons, Steven and April, Saratoga Springs and Daniel and Diane, Hamlin, NY; his daughter, Jill and Matthew Smith, Saratoga Springs; his seven grandchildren, Danielle and Chris Arpey, Ashley, Sarah, Cody and Carley Campbell and Alyssa and Devin Smith. Robert is also survived by his two great-grandsons, Lyam and Easton Arpey; his brother, Floyd “Sonny” and Bernice Campbell, South Colton and his two sisters, Bernice and George Robert, Colton and Margaret and Robert Thomas, Hannawa Falls and several nieces and nephews. Born in South Colton on October 25, 1934 to the late George and Helen Fisher Campbell, Robert married Beverly J. McEwen on October 1, 1954. He worked for the Niagara Mohawk Power Company for 40 years, retiring in 1994 as a Chief Traveling Operator. Robert loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren and he was a great outdoorsman. He especially loved fishing, hunting and spending time at camp on the Island. Robert was also a member of the Birch Brook Hunting Club. Memorial Donations can be made to the Colton or Parishville Rescue Squads.
