MALONEFuneral services for 85 year old Betty J. Kirk, a resident of the Alice-Hyde Nursing Home in Malone and formerly of Norwood, will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Norwood with Pastor Pat Paige presiding. Burial will be held in the Riverside Cemetery, Norwood. Mrs. Kirk passed away early Wednesday morning at the Nursing Home.
Betty is survived by her three daughters, Mrs. Jefferson Marilee Toppins, Arlington, Texas; Mrs. Daniel Karen Peterson, Morris, IL. and Mrs. Clifton Cheryl Nolette, Malone, NY. Betty is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and her only living sibling, Mrs. Olive Haggett, Norwood. Betty was pre-deceased by her husband Leal, a son Alan Kirk, two grandchildren, Gary Stump and Kevin Kirk, her three brothers, Ray, Clyde and Fred Morgan and her sisters Alice Dunbar, Mildred Orr, Helen Breakey and Ethel Matson.
Born in Potsdam on May 19, 1927 to the late Edson H. and Alta L. Marsh Morgan, she married Leal Kirk on March 14, 1953. Betty worked as a Bank Teller for the St. Lawrence National Bank in Norwood. She was very active in the Norwood United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women, the United Methodist Choir and the Adult fellowship Group. While she resided in Ohio, Betty was a member of the Cleveland Orchestra Choir, where in 1974 they were featured on a Grammy Award winning album. Betty also loved to spend time with her grandchildren and enjoyed painting and doing crafts. Memorial Donations can be made to the Norwood United Methodist Church.
