COLTONFuneral services for 86 year old Walter J. Norman, Baldwin Acres, Norwood, will be held Friday at 10 am at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton with Rev. Msgr. Harry Snow presiding. Burial will be held in St. Patricks Cemetery, Colton. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Mr. Norman passed away Monday morning at the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena.
Mr. Norman is survived by five sons, Ronald, Rochester; Kenneth and Barbara Norman, Madrid; Allan and Miyoko Norman, Arizona; Walter and Gloria Norman, Marion, NY; Richard and Deborah Norman, Star Lake; his two daughters, Elaine Norman, Arizona and Barbara and Thomas Dumas, Madrid; 20 Grandchildren and 27 Great-grandchildren. Walter is also survived by his two brothers, Paul and Carol Norman, Texas and Gordon and Adelina Norman, Macomb. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Ellen Norman on June 12, 2012, a son Rodney and his sisters Eileen and Agnes.
Born in Hopkinton on March 22, 1926 to the late John and Mabel LaQue Norman, he married Ellen A. Wright on August 14, 1947. He worked as a Road Grade Foreman for Local Laborers 322 in Massena, NY. He enjoyed fishing and was a past member of the Potsdam VFW. Walter served in the U.S. Army during WWII with the 3rd Infantry Division.
