SOUTH COLTON—Funeral services for 76 year old A. John Litten Jr., 30 Morgan Road, South Colton, will be held Tuesday at 10 am at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton with Pastor Tom Chappell presiding. Burial will be held in the South Colton Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton on Monday from 4-8 pm. Mr. Litten passed away Thursday evening at his home. John is survived by his wife, Vera, South Colton; his two sons, Daniel (Sandra) Litten, Anderson, SC; Rodney Litten, South Colton; his three daughters, Susan (Dale) Robar, South Colton; Brenda (Richard) Miller, South Colton and Karen Smith, Canton. John is also survived by his step children, Cindy Arnett, FL; Tammy (Chad) Smith, Colton and Donald (Karen) Hamilton, Colton; sixteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and four sisters, Sandra (Lawrence ”Smiley”) Regan, South Colton; Laura Sevey, St. Regis Falls; Eleanor Gains, Alabama and Betty LaVigne, Maryland. John was pre-deceased by his first wife, Lorraine Litten and five sisters. Born in Clearfield, PA on January 24, 1936 to the late Albert John and Beatrice Hagerty Litten Sr., he married Lorraine Fisher on February 26, 1955. She passed on April 7, 2005. John later married Vera Rose Hamilton on May 17, 2008. John worked for the Highway Department for the Town of Colton and served as the Town Justice for many years. He was a member of the Colton Masonic Lodge, the Colton Fire Department and the Brier-Hill Fire Department, where he served as Chief. He was past president of the Raquette Valley Fish and Game Club in Colton and a member of the Shriners Media Temple. John was also a beloved member of the Stillwater Hunting Club where he was the cook and caretaker. John served in the U.S. Navy for a short period of time.
