Obituary of John W. McGinnis

John W. McGinnis 90, formerly of Turnpike Rd Throop died Friday October 19, 2012 at Mercy Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born on June 7, 1922, in Norwood NY, John was the son of the late Jay and Mary Roach McGinnis. He was a graduate of Clarkson University with a Bachelors in Accounting. During World War II he proudly served his country with the US Army. He retired from ALCOA in Massena following over 40 years of employment. At the time of his retirement, he held the title of Chief Property Accoutant with the company. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church and in previous years enjoyed gardening. John is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (James) Ayers of Cuba, NY, five sons, Michael McGinnis of Weedsport, Thomas (Penny) McGinnis of Queens, Mark McGinnis of San Diego, Ca., David McGinnis of St. Peter Beach, FL., and Dale McGinnis of Cuba, NY, five grandchildren, John Ayers and Melissa Reichman, Nicholas, Christopher and Alicia McGinnis, two great grandchildren, Zaven and Addison Reichman, nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Esther L. Benson McGinnis, a sister Rita Lenny, and two brothers, Gerald and James McGinnis. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home, 7 Park St. Norwood, NY on Tuesday Evening from 7-9. A Mass of Christian Celebration will be held Wednesday at 10 AM in St. Andrews Church, Norwood, NY. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Norwood.
