NORFOLKServices for 74 year old Hollis G. Snyder, of the St. Regis Nursing Home, Massena, and 22 Furnace Street, Norfolk, will be held privately at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk. A spring burial will be held in the Bixby cemetery, Norfolk, in the spring. Mr. Snyder passed away Saturday afternoon at the Massena Memorial Hospital.
Hollis is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia Kay, Norfolk; a son, Robert and Denise Snyder, Glens Falls; his two daughters, Kelly and Butch Sharlow, Waddington and Kathryn and John Riley, Massena; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, two brothers, Hawley Snyder, Saranac Lake and Verde Snyder, Canton and his three sisters, Ellen Moore, Potsdam; Rhoda Bond, Norfolk and Irene White, Buffalo. Hollis was pre-deceased by a brother Horace Snyder.
Born in Pierrepont on October 26, 1937 to the late Roy B. and Virginia Parrody Snyder, he married Patricia K. Briggs on September 12, 1957. Hollis worked as an electrician for St. Lawrence County for thirty years, retiring in 1995. He was a past member of the Norfolk Fire Department and the Barney Pond Hunting Club in South Colton. Hollis was a member of the Seaway Cruisers Car Club and the Norfolk Historical Society and served on the Norfolk Museum Board. He helped build the Norfolk Museum and did work for many people and businesses in the Norfolk Area. Hollis loved hunting, fishing and woodworking, but most of all, he had a passion for his garden.
