SOUTH COLTON Funeral Services for 79 year old Gormand H. Ford, of 4060 State Highway 56, South Colton, will be held Monday at 2 pm at St. Pauls Catholic Church in South Colton with Rev. Raymond Moreau, pastor, presiding. Burial will be in St. Patricks Cemetery, Colton. Calling Hours will be held Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton. Mr. Ford passed away late Friday evening at his home, under the care of his family and Hospice and Palliative Care.
Survivors WIFE Elizabeth, South Colton; SONS Jeff and Michelle, Jericho, VT.; Jerry and Sheri, Georgia, VT.; DAUGHTERS Mrs. Ronald Sharon Gotham, South Colton; Mrs. Rodney Cheryl Thomas, South Colton; 8 GRANDCHILDREN Devin and Ursula Gotham, Kerry and Eve Gotham, Brenden and Amy Gotham, Eric and Jessie Thomas, Gavin Thomas, Aerianna Ford, Cierra Ford, Skyler Ford; 1 GREAT-GRANDCHILD, Miles Gotham; BROTHERS Kermit and Arletha Ford, Lynchburg, VA; Henry and Diane Ford, Colton; William and Lorraine Ford, Pierrepont; SISTER Mrs. Francis Connie Hatch, South Colton; SISTER-IN-LAW Carol Ford, South Colton; and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a brother Lawrence.
Born in Potsdam on June 18, 1929 to Harry and Carmel Gonyea Ford, he married Elizabeth Sullivan on October 13, 1947. He began working with his father at the Ford and Watson Lumber Company at an early age. He later started his career as an operating engineer and master mechanic, working at several locations around the Northeast. Including the St. Lawrence Seaway, the Niagara Falls Power Project, area colleges and schools, and the Racquette River Hydroelectric Power Project. He worked for Local 545 in Syracuse. He was a member and past Trustee of St. Pauls Church in South Colton. He was a Charter member and Caption of the South Colton Fire Dept. and Rescue Squad, a Cub Scout leader and a member of the Brunner Hill Hunting Club. He enjoyed staying at his camp on Higley Flow, attending his grandchildrens sporting events and spending time with his family.
