COLTONA memorial service for 75 year old Nancy Hughes Bender, 285 Arbuckle Pond Road, Colton, will be held this summer at their home on Nancy and James anniversary, July 27, 2012. Mrs. Bender passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at her home with her family.
Nancy is survived by her husband, James, Colton; three sons, Michael and Tamara, Savannah, Georgia; James and Laurie, Binghamton, NY; Matthew, Cobleskill, NY; her daughter, Maggie and Timothy Baker, Ogdensburg and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Nancy was pre-deceased by her brother, James.
Born in Chateaugay, NY on May 12, 1936 to the late James C. and Lena Brown Hughes, she graduated from Chateaugay Central School and Albany Teachers College. She married James Bender on July 27, 1957. Nancy was a High School Teacher, teaching History and Math at Chateaugay Central School, Richmond High School in Richmond, Illinois and Hillel Academy in Vestal, NY. Nancy and James have lived in Colton, NY since their retirement. Nancy enjoyed cooking and was an avid reader and supporter of the Colton Hepburn Library.
