Obituary of John W. Starkey

NORFOLK– Funeral Services for 86 year old John W. Starkey, of 1428 County Rt. 38, Norfolk, will be held Friday at 2 pm at the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk with Rev. Andrew Amyot, pastor presiding. Burial will be held in Earth Memorial Cemetery, Earth, Texas. Calling Hours will be held Friday at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk from 12 noon until the time of the funeral. Mr. Starkey passed away on Tuesday at Crouse-Irving Medical Center, Syracuse. Survivors– Wife– Peggy, Norfolk; Son– Lynn and Linda Starkey, Sandy, Oregon; Daughters– Debra Starkey, Cutbank, Montana; Mrs. David Cesileonne de` Fae Hofer, Cutbank, Montana; Mrs. Scott Polly Libby, Ashland, Maine; Mrs. Rick Doris “Di” Schuessler, Karney, Nebraska; 10 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren; Brothers– Jack and Denise Starkey, Fl.; Jess David and Lola Jean Starkey, Dumas, TX; Bill and Helen Starkey, Sacramento, CA. He was pre-deceased by brothers Andrew and Franklin and sisters Maudie Mae Zarkou and Naomi Dae Crestison. Born in White City, Oklahoma to Andy and Minnie Mae King Starkey, he retired from the U.S. Army as a Major in 1961. He later worked as a security guard for the Alyeska Pipeline Service Co., in Alaska. He married Peggy Burby on April 9, 1992. He was a communicant of the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk.
