NORFOLK-- Funeral services for 74 year old Lawrence H. “Buddy” Haggett, 3 East View Heights, Norfolk, will be held Friday at 11 am at the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk with Rev. Msgr. John Murphy presiding. Burial will be held in the Visitation Cemetery, Norfolk. There will be a reception to follow the funeral services at the Norfolk American Legion. There will be no public calling hours. Mr. Haggett passed away Monday afternoon at the Fletcher-Allen Medical Center in Burlington, VT. Buddy is survived by his wife, Avis, Norfolk; a son, Fred and Sue Haggett, Liverpool, NY; a daughter, Karen Haggett, Norfolk; five grandchildren, Courtney Haggett, Morgan Nichols, Zach Haggett, Nate Haggett, Caleb Haggett; his three sisters, Barbara and Harold Buck, Colton; Arlene “Sissy” Harris, Norfolk and Ellen and George Smith, also of Norfolk, and several nieces and nephews. Buddy was pre-deceased by a son, Daniel Joseph, a daughter, Peggy Lynn and his sister, Lorene “Nena” Dibble. Born in Norfolk on February 2, 1937 to the late Joseph “Larry” and Margaret Parr Haggett, he married Avis L. Lavigne on August 2, 1958. He worked as a store room manager for Reynolds Metals in Massena for 39 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of the Norfolk American Legion, the St. Regis Hunting Club and was a past member of the Norfolk Fire Department. Buddy enjoyed Hockey, bowling, golfing and spending time at his summer camp. Buddy served in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1959. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Norfolk Rescue Squad or to Mercy Flight, 100 Amhurst Villa Road, Buffalo, NY, 14225-1432.
