Obituary of Shirley R. Severance

COLTON—Funeral services for 76 year old Shirley R. Severance, 43 East Higley Road, Colton, will be held Thursday at 2 pm at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton with Rev. Pat LaVine presiding. Burial will be held in Pleasant Mound Cemetery, Colton. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mrs. Severance passed away Monday at her home. Shirley is survived by three sons, Lloyd (Jody) Severance, Ocala, FL; Donald Severance and his companion Nancy Farley, Colton; Gary Severance Sr., Rutland, VT; her three daughters, Charlene Severance and her husband Guy Paro, Canton and Bonnie and Sharon Severance, both of Colton. Shirley has six grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Richard Barton, Saranac Lake and her sister Gladys Ferry. Shirley was pre-deceased by her husband, a brother Charles and her sister Geraldine. Born in Conifer, NY on June 22, 1935 to the late Charles and Mabel Meacham Barton, she married Lloyd W. Severance on June 6, 1959. He passed away in 1988. She worked for the Colton-Pierrepont School for 25 years in the cafeteria. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Potsdam and enjoyed crocheting, music and playing cards.
