My Condolences to the Family of Mrs. P. She was so many things to me; friend, teacher, mentor and I'm not the only one that can say that. She got me to like science and that was no small feat. She was our class sponsor (1970)and one of the teachers that I remember most.

To the "P" families- Ian, Sue and Kevin.
My condolences for the loss of your mother and grandmother. I didn't think about it at the time but now realize that she was very influential in the scientific career path I took and still work in today. I hope you take comfort in knowing she had such a profound effect on so many after reading these testimonials about her commitment to teaching.

To the Family:
I was very sad to hear of Laura's passing. There was no one in the NNCS community that was more inspiring to the young people than Laura. She was a beloved teacher, advisor, and all around friend to all students.
If you had to describe the model teacher, Laura would be your example. She will be missed, but never forgotten.
God bless all of you during this difficult time!

Laura Patterson was one one of my favorite teachers of all time. She was kind, caring, and quietly brilliant. I looked forward to her class where I knew I would always learn something fascinating about the world.

Though I taught high school math for only a short time, I know the joy that comes with teaching and, particularly, with being able to touch the lives of young people as a role model. And, what a role model Laura was. Like her mom, she had that unique gift of being able to balance discipline with genuine love for both her subject and her students. She cared and it showed. If ever there was someone to emulate in both the classroom and in the community, shes it. Most teachers in the profession are good, but only a few are great. And, Laura was "great!" May she rest in peace knowing that her life made a difference in the lives of so many others.

Heartfelt sympathy goes to Laura's family. She was our friend, an Honorary member of the Potsdam Garden Club after many, many years of active membership. Many of the current members did not have the pleasure of meeting Laura, but we have heard nothing but wonderful, glowing stories about her knowledgeable contributions to the club and her friendly way with people. She will be talked of in those glowing terms and fondly remembered.

My thoughts & prayers are with Laura's family during this difficult. I got to know Laura through Saints Hockey. And one time I took her & Ruth Haley down to the Cornell came. Great game even though it was lost & one hell of a trip back in a blinding snow storm. We had dinner in Cicero @ the famous turkey place (for the life of me I think of the name) & Ruth would tell me her birthday, just the month & date! What a fond memory of two very special ladies! I've missed seeing Laura at the games & will continue to. God Bless

My heart goes out to your family, Mrs. Phalen. I have very fond memories of making a banana ester with Alta in biology and having it "explode". I also remember working as an assistant after school with the Neighborhood Youth Corp, which gave me my first job ever. You were a delight. May God keep you in his loving arms.

What a lovely lady Laura was! I first met her back in the 50's when I babysat sat for her two oldest daughters when she and her first husband lived in Adams. Then when I started teaching at Norwood-Norfolk in 1974 to my surprise she was there and remembered her time in Adams.
She will be missed by all the former faculty of Norwood-Norfolk Central.

My wife Norma (Regan) and I remember Mrs. Patterson (Mrs. Phalen when we were in school) fondly. She was one of the teachers who has always come up in conversations about the ones who really connected with their students and positively impacted their lives for years. I don't know of a greater tribute to one's life than the influence she had on the lives of so many young people.

Mrs. Patterson was one the finest teachers to grace the halls of NNCS. After graduation, when I saw her , she was always Mrs. Patterson even though she would tell me to call her Laura. Our schools today would be so much better if there were more teachers who possessed her knowledge and respect for her students. Rest in peace, Mrs. Patterson, it was an honor to have had you for a teacher. Sharlene Penny (Class of 1975)

Laura's Family,
Laura will be fondly remembered by the many young people that she taught during her years of service teaching the young people at NNCS.
Laura also represented her colleagues well in her leadership role as Association President. She was equally well respected by the administration, Board of Education, parents and the community as a whole.
My sister Karen and our parents frequently dialogued on the many fine attributes that Laura possessed and how she passed them along to her students.
Laura will long be remembered for her contributions to the school and community.

Laura Patterson was a wonderful person ...I miss her always especially the month of February . She accomplished a lot especially in the era she was born and was always super nice to all. I remember one of her mottos and she lived it she didn't just talk about it. She use to say "if a person cannot say something good about someone then they shouldn't say anything at all ".She was a wonderful teacher inside and out of the classroom ..I am honored to have known her and to be a friend .I offer my condolences to all family and friends who knew her..I was unable to attend the funeral as I was recuperating from cancer at the time and there was a storm where I was living three and a half hrs away one way trip at the time ...I wish I could have been there ..
