Memorial services for 75 year old Robert M. Gonyea, a resident of the Highland Nursing Home in Massena, and formerly of Norwood, will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood with Deacon Margaret Theodore, officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Lawrenceville.There will be no calling hours. Mr. Gonyea died Thursday at Massena Memorial Hospital.
Surviving are 3 Daughters; Mrs. Robert Sandra Scanlon;Indian Lake,Miss Karen Gonyea,Hyanis Port, Mass.; and Mrs. Jackie Erickson, Endicot,NY.4 Grandchildren, 4 Grt-Grandchildren, 3 Brothers- Donald C. Gonyea, Norwood;William and Wilma Gonyea; Hays,NC and Bernard & Margaret Gonyea of Edwards; 3 Sisters-Janet Queor, Norwood;Kathleen Fitzpatrick,South Colton and Pat Marselis, Norwood.;several nieces and nephews.He is pre-deceased by 3 Brothers;Lewis, Lawrence, and Francis Gonyea and by 3 Sisters, Helen Rindal,Elizabeth Farmer, and Jean Gonyea. He is also survived by a sister-in-law Maureen Gonyea of Norfolk.
Born in Raymondville on 10/29/1932, son of Clarence and Luela Arquitt Gonyea; a marriage ended in divorce.
He was employed by Gaines & Sherman Construction in Potsdam.He was a member of the Norwood American Legion in Norwood and a Korean Veteran.
