Obituary of Leon Cantwell

MADRID—Funeral services for 87 year old Leon Cantwell, 181 Buffham Road, Madrid, will be held Wednesday at 12 noon at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood with President Benjamin Pykles of the Church of Latter Day Saints presiding. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Norwood. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 10 am until the time of the service. Leon was survived by a son, Leon Jr. and his wife Yevonne, Norwood; and his daughters, Mrs. Ron Jeanie McLean, North Stockholm, Mrs. Joe Tina LaBarge, Madrid; Cynthia Cantwell, Potsdam; Brenda Cantwell, Austin, TX; Mrs. John Shirley Shelmidine, Louisville, KY, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a sister Pearl LaPage. Born in Moira on April 17, 1923 to the late Fred and Orila Martin Cantwell, he married Elizabeth Michaud. She passed away on January 7, 2001. He worked as a truck driver for the St. Lawrence Seaway in his earlier years. Leon served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
