Hi Kathy,
I have not had much contact with you since our school days. I remember the long talks on the phone in the 7th grade when Teresa was staying with you because your Dad traveled a lot. I am sorry to hear that he is gone. My Dad is almost 88 and I sure want to keep him as long as we can. I think of you from time to time and wonder what had become of you.

Dearest Sonia and family, Mom and I are so saddened to hear of Virgil's death. After my father died, (Russell) I always missed hime so. When I had my house in Port Orange built, I never dreamed I would come to know his cousin Virgil in such a close and personal way. After Mom and Audrey starting going together to Florida and you folks all started visiting each other, I will never forget coming to Florida and meeting him for the first time. It felt like my dad was back in my life. We laughed and talk to each other like we were old friends, and I'm sure you realized we all loved him so. I will never forget our lunches at "Sweetwaters" and our dinners at my house. Mom and Audrey were never afraid to be in Florida with you and Virgil there, because they always felt like they had family close by. When my brother Richard met Virgil at the annual family reunion, he felt the same way. Our new "Uncle Virgil" shared many thoughts and insights with us and his "Trombly" smile, calm manner, and wonderful memories of our dad and their times together as kids, endeared us to him forever.Aunt Aud (Audrey Traynor)my mom (Catherine Trombly) my brother (Richard Trombly) and I want to thank you for sharing your Virgil with us on so many occasions. We loved him, and we will miss him every day. Sonia, please know that you are always welcome at the Trombly home in Port Orange should you ever wish to return to Florida. With lots of love and my sincerest sympathy, ROGER TROMBLY

Kathy, Gale & family: Sorry to hear about your Dad. Really going to miss him. I think of him often, especially when I'm out snowmobiling and go on the club he belonged to and come across the "Virgil Trombley Road." I don't know if you remember me, Kathy, but you and I were in school together in 7th or 8th grade. I tried calling your home phone; got the answering machine, but didn't leave a message. Again, I am really sorry. He is with your mother now. God bless. Glynn

Virgil always stopped into the mill on
his way south each fall. I enjoyed
seeing his picture behind the yoke of
the B-24 that landed in Massena a couple
of years ago. He is a true American
hero given his outstanding service
to his countrymen. He once told me that
after he hit the ground upon bailing out
he met up with a USArmy infantry patrol.
They escorted him to a chow line where
he was hailed by a fellow NNHS graduate
who asked him: "hey, Virg, what have you
been up to?". He told his hometown
friend: "You wouldn't believe it if I
told you.". I will remember him well.
