NORWOOD Funeral services for 72 year old Carolyn P. (Lynne) Matson of 26 Park Street, Norwood will be held on Friday at 10 am at the United Methodist Church in Norfolk with Rev. Harold Wheat presiding. Burial will be held in the Louisville Cemetery. Friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Lynne passed away Monday evening at her home.
Lynne is survived by a son and his wife, Tim and Missy, Massena, a daughter Tina Matson and her companion Jeff Sweet, Norwood, her grandchildren Lee Graves, Jessica Hayes and Brandon Matson, her great-grandchildren Madison and Emmah Hayes and her companion for 24 years, Pat Matthews. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Paul Pettys, Galand Pettys, a sister Mary Etta Pettys and a grandson Brian Matson in 1983.
A daughter of Garold and Edith Munson Pettys, she was born in Ogdensburg on August 3, 1937. She graduated from Norwood-Norfolk Central School in 1955. She worked at Canton-Potsdam Hospital as an LPN for 27 years, retiring in 1995. Well known for her remarkable musical talent, especially on the keyboard, she taught piano privately in her home to children and adults. She loved boating and fishing on the St. Lawrence River, spending time with her family camping at Coles Creek State Park, singing in the church Choir and traveling throughout the United States. Over the past 25 years she has care for many friends and family members as they transitioned from this world to the next. She was a fifty year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lyra Chapter. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Music Memorial Fund of the Norfolk United Methodist Church toward the purchase of handbells and accessories, c/o Zenith Dallos, Box 252, Norfolk, NY, 13667 or to the charity of ones choice.
