NORFOLKFuneral Services with honors for 72 year old William M. Rood, of 8522 State Highway 56, Norfolk, will be held Wednesday at 10 am at the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk with Rev. Andrew Amyot and Rev. Msgr. Harry Snow presiding. Burial will take place in Riverside cemetery, Norwood. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood. A reception will be held at the American Legion in Norfolk following the service. Mr. Rood passed away on Friday evening.
Mr. Rood is survived by his wife Mary, Norfolk; his two daughters, Robyn and John Monroe, Norfolk and Johnna and Andrew Rusello, Colorado Spring, Colorado, five grandchildren, Tobee and Mindy Rood, Tamee Rood, Christopher Rusello, Brandon Russelo, Willie Russello, his two great-grandchildren, Michael Planty and Monique Rood, a brother Richard and Romaine Rood, Devin, PA, and several nieces and nephews.
Born in Potsdam on April 18, 1937 to the late Leslie G. Rood and Elva A. Alguire, he married Mary Walker on December 24, 1971. He worked as a loan officer for the USDA Rural Development in Schenectady, NY for 20 years, retiring in 2005. He was a member of the Norfolk Fire Department, and was a past Chief of the Norwood Fire Department, past member of the Northern NY Volunteer Fire Assoc., past member of the St. Lawrence County Fire Chiefs Assoc., past color guard for the Norwood Brass Fireman, past master of the What Cheer Lodge 689 F and AM, Norwood, past committee member, BSA, Troop 40, and former member of the Shrine Media Temple, Watertown.
