may the strength that you and your family portrayed at this tough memorial service carry you through. Dian you are one strong young lady and the Lord has other plans that no one can wrap thier mind around. We are a call away, your family represents strength from Christiana to mMatt to James and to Ben, you will make it through. God's merciesare new every morning. With such a loss of a unique individual it will not be getting over it tomorrow but time will heal. That is not to say I will never forget his laugh or his twist on things, but that is what made John, John. I will kepp that in my heart forever. John was a faithful and enthusiastic participant in my afternoon kickboxing classes at SUNY Potsdam. He always had a smile and time to talk and had the intrinsic energy and motivation that resulted in a increase in energy in the room. He loved the music and the fast pace and though he struggled with the kicking aspect, never stopped trying to improve his technique. He was an ideal student and friend and his spirit and energy will continue to inspire me as I teach classes in the future.

You know what they say, Only the good die young. Christiana I miss you, I love you, I would do anything to be there for you and with you. One of the Italians that I work with said that you have the prettiest name that she has ever heard. Shes also pregnant so I made sure to tell her in Italian that you can be the only Christiana that I know in the world. Matt, keep your hair red but mind that Purvis temper :-) James, congrats Mr. President. You know how much your Dad liked those awesome grades, so go kick some butt in college and never stop running because you know hes going to be right behind you, pushing you over those hurdles and keeping you from dropping that baton. Ben, not to get all cheesy on you but I remember when you were born. You have grown to be such a little cutie and Im sure your Dad will be up there giving you hints about picking up the ladies. Mrs. Purvis, you are one of the sweetest people that I have ever known. I loved sitting in the library as a kid listening to you read. You always read with a smile and a laugh. I hope someday Ill be able to read to my kids like that. I loved the smell of your house and the sound of chaos from the boys. I loved the summer duathalons and Mr. Purviss smile. I promise to always keep all of those memories in my heart. Ive spoken to my family and theyve promised to be my stand-in support while Im gone. Theyre crazy but they really love you guys a lot, a lot and I couldnt imagine a better group of people to lean on for support. I love you all
Angela, Jess and Jason included. Please never forget that this pain is temporary but his memory and legacy will live on forever. Your family has prayers being sent to you from all over so please know that you WILL NEVER be alone. I love you guys and hope to see you soon.

My heart grieves with you. In 1 Samuel 30:4, it says: Then David and the people who were with him lifted up their voices and wept, until they had no more power to weep, and in John 16:20 His word says: "Most assuredly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned to joy.
I pray for you this day, and I know the Lord brings and keeps with you so many wonderful memories of John as husband, son, father and friend. For myself, years ago, I met John with my husband, Dale, as they went to college together, and John would pick my husband's brain, (even in the early 70s, he had a thirst for knowledge). As I read now, the thirst he had as a young man never left him, and as he pursued and pressed into what his heart then desired, he thus achieved a greater joy than he knew with not only knowledge but the joy of having a wife and family. I was thankful to meet all of your family tonight. The most exciting part while visiting with you and having special time together was learning John knew His Jesus. Nothing can be better than that. I am thankful that I had the great opportunity to know John, to meet your family and have quiet time with the four of us gathered together. I came to be a blessng to you, and I received so much more than what I came to give. Isn't that just like God. I pray grace, mercy and peace be with all of you.

Do Not Stand At My Grave and Weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow;
I am the diamond glints on the snow.
I am the sunlight that ripened grain;
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush,
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die.
With love to all.
