NORWOOD Funeral services for 84 year old Amos Alfred Bond, of the St. Regis Nursing Home and formerly of 1065 Buckton Road, Winthrop, will be held Friday at 10 am at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood with Rev. Msgr. Harry Snow, pastor of St. Andrews Church in Norwood presiding. Burial will take place in the Union Cemetery, Buckton. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood. Mr. Bond passed away early Wednesday morning at the Massena Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Bond is survived by his sons Dwight Bond of New Jersey, Dwayne and Lisa Bond of Winthrop, Pierre and Joan Bond of Winthrop, Daryl and Christine Bond of Winthrop, Dale Bond and his companion Tonya Gotham of Winthrop, Dennis Bond and his companion Anita Williams of Potsdam. He is survived by his daughters Mrs. William Shirlie Crump, Winthrop, Mrs. Wayne Sherrie Demers, Brasher Falls and Mrs. Timothy Amy Peak, Yulee, FL, two step-sons, Bernard and Sally Frederick Jr., Ticonderoga and Paul and Brenda Frederick, Pensicola, FL. Amos has several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He is survived by his brothers James Bond, Norfolk, Richard and Helen Bond, Norfolk, William and Rhoda Bond, Norfolk, John Bond of Tennessee and two sisters Joan Gravlin and Sylvia Caloren, both of Ogdensburg. He was pre-deceased by his brothers Francis and Kenneth Bond.
Born in Potsdam on June 28, 1924 to the late Alfred and Mabel LaPlante Bond, he married Johanna Deon on October 10, 1948. She passed away on February 15, 1990. He worked for the Town of Stockholm Highway Department for many years, retiring in 1986. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He loved hunting and being in the outdoors.
