NORWOOD - Funeral services for 61 year old Richard "Dick" L. Walker, of 17 Ridge Street, Norwood, will be held Thursday at 10AM at St. Andrew's Church in Norwood with Rev. Msgr. Harry Snow, pastor, presiding. Spring Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Norwood. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4-7 pm at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood. Mr. Walker passed away Sunday afternoon at his home.
Survivors-- Wife-- Sharon, Norwood; Sons-- Richard Jr. and Linda Walker, Richland, Washington; Kim and Melissa Walker, Norfolk; Craig and Stacy Walker, Savannah, Missouri; Daughters-- Mrs.Gregory Denise Miller, Syracuse; 1 Grandson-- Beau Walker; 4 Granddaughters-- Paige, Riess, Riley, and Regan Walker; Brothers-- Don and Theresa Walker, Norwood; Chuck and Roberta Walker, Florida; and a Sister Mrs. William Mary Rood, Norfolk. He was Pre-Deceased by his parents and a brother John.
Born in Potsdam on November 11, 1946 to John O. and Frances Walker, Dick grew up loving to play sports and excelled at Baseball and Basketball in his school years. Dick was then drafted into the Army where he served four years during the Vietnam War. Upon his dicharge, he married his love, Sharon, where they enjoyed 40 years of marriage. After living in Buffalo and Rochester, they settled in Norwood and raised there four children. Dick worked as an electrical technician for A.L.C.O.A. in Massena for 20 years, retiring in 1988. Dick was well known Baseball coach for Tri-Town Little League and Babe Ruth. He coached many Allstar teams to District Championships, and helped many kids become better ball players and young men. Dick will always be remembered for his giving of himself to improve others. He was a communicant of St. Andrew's Church in Norwood. Dick will be sorely missed by his loved ones and we all have a angel watching over us now.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Andrews Church or to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley. Arrangements are with the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood.
