I am sorry to hear of John's passing. He was my grandfather's brother and quite the storyteller. Storytelling ran in the family as my grandfather was pretty good at it too. The two of them together would entertain each other for hours. I have fond memories of running down the hill to visit John and Betty while staying with my grandparents. Betty was so kind and always welcoming to us.
I never got to ride in John's plane but my father still tells the story of getting a ride from John and John turning the motor off while they were in the air. Scared the BLEEP out of my dad. Fair to say he had a pretty good sense of humor too.
My thoughts are with his family. I hope you take comfort in knowing he is now with his wife, Betty, brothers, Tunk and Bub, and his parents. They are all together again.
