NORFOLK—Funeral services with fireman’s honors for 51 year old Scott J. Monroe will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk with Rev. Msgr. John Murphy presiding. Burial will be held in the Visitation Cemetery, Norfolk. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. Mr. Monroe passed away Sunday afternoon at his home. Scott is survived by his wife Dawn, Norfolk; his father, Wayne, Norfolk; two children, Jessica Gardner and her fiancé Tim Bennett, Massena; Steven Gardner Jr., Massena; six loving grandchildren, his brothers Carl and his companion Naomi Phillips, Norfolk; Daryl and Pamela Monroe, Massena; Greg and Mary Monroe, Norfolk; a sister Sherry Monroe and her companion Neil Urquhart, Norfolk as well as several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a brother Timothy and just recently, his mother Beverly Monroe. Born in Potsdam on October 17, 1963 to Wayne and Beverly Colton Monroe, Scott married Dawn McCarthy on February 14, 2009. Scott has worked at various business, including Ames, Big Lots, Family Dollar and most recently, Price Chopper in Massena. Scott was a member of the Norfolk Rescue Squad and the Norfolk Fire Department. He enjoyed putting together models, bowling, fishing, playing softball for the fire department, washing and waxing his car and spending time with his family and friends. Memorial Donations can be made to the Norfolk Fire Department or Norfolk Rescue Squad, Hospice and Palliative Care, a local Cancer Center or to the family.
