NORWOOD - A Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy Mae Deon, 95, a resident of 155 Reynolds Road, will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Andrew's Church in Norwood with Rev. Raymond Moreau presiding. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Norwood, following the service. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Mrs. Deon passed away Friday morning, July 3, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family.


Dorothy is survived by two sons, Donald and Candice Deon, Norwood; Daniel and Judy Deon, Potsdam; two daughters, Debra and George Kimble, Norwood; Duana and Diana Deon, Norwood; a step-daughter, Donna Knoepke, Montana; a daughter-in-law, Janet Deon, Norfolk; several beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with another great-grand on the way; six great-great grandchildren; a brother, James Claffey, Potsdam; two sisters, Stella Hollinger and Nancy Mitchell, both of Canton as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Dorothy was pre-deceased by her parents, her husband Donald, a son, David Deon, a daughter, Darlene Corriea and her companion John Clukey, a grandson, Justin Brothers, a brother, Gary Claffey and two sisters, Jean Fiacco and Abby Claffey.


Born in Norwood at home on the Austin Ridge Road on January 1, 1931 to the late Walter J. and Marion S. Clemo Claffey, Dorothy attended school and married Donald Deon on June 8, 1963. Donald later passed away on August 18, 2005. Dorothy was a devoted homemaker, raising her family alongside her husband. She was a devoted Christian, attending St. Andrew's Church in Norwood as well as being a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She also belonged to TOPS. In her spare time, Dorothy enjoyed cooking and baking, but found her most enjoyment came from spending time with her family and friends, especially the kids. Memorial donations in Dorothy's memory can be made to the St. Lawrence Power and Equipment Museum, 1755 NY 345, Madrid, NY 13660 c/o Locomotive Engine 210 Fund (Dorothy's father was an Engineer of that Locomotive) or to Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley and memories and condolences may be shared online at www.buckfuneralhome.com .
