COLTON - A Celebration of Life gathering for Ray I. Mudge Sr., 73, a resident of 289 Windmill Road, Colton, will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at the Colton Amvets from 1-4 p.m. Mr. Mudge passed away on May 5, 2026, at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital with family at his side. Ray is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marie, Colton; his three children, Catherine and Mark Cardinal, Parishville; Debbie and William Faust, Natural Bridge and Ray Mudge Jr. and his partner Patricia Sharlow, Colton; his nine grandchildren, Crystal and Chad Moore, Crysten and Kristopher Weems, Josh Stiles and his partner Kathy Anderson, Dusty Huckle, Kevin Beha and partner Kylee Culkin, Jacob and Jasmine Mudge, Ray Mudge III, Isaac Mudge and Mackenzie Cardinal; several great-grandchildren and two sisters, Viola Madsen, Morris, NY and Gladys Pope, Mount Upton, NY. Ray was pre-deceased by his parents, Francis and Mary, and eight siblings: Mary Mudge, Roy Mudge, Charles "Chuck" Mudge, William "Bill" Mudge, Francis "Jim" Mudge, Doris Douglas, Julia Mudge, and Luceille Chambers.
Born in Pittsfield, NY, on November 22, 1952, to the late Francis and Mary Law Mudge, Ray attended Morris High School. He married Marie H. Wright on March 4, 1972. Ray worked for many years at Potsdam Hardwoods and previously worked at the Sodus Fruit Farm in Sodus, NY. In his spare time, Ray loved the outdoors, whether he was hunting, fishing, or birdwatching.
