David J. Quaife Obituary
POTSDAM - Services for David Joseph Quaife,59, a resident of Potsdam and formerly of Canton, will be held at a later date to be announced. David passed away suddenly April 30, 2026 at his home. Born on June 17, 1966 in Ogdensburg, NY, David was raised in Canton and graduated from Canton High School, where his talent and determination earned him a hockey scholarship. Just as his future on the ice was beginning, he learned he would soon become a father. David chose to join the Army Reserve, setting aside his hockey career to support his growing family. David enjoyed being surrounded by friends and family, laughing, playing games, and never turning down the chance for a food fight. David spent many years as an overtheroad truck driver for KLLM then Swift. In his spare time, he brought his daughters along to car shows in Carlisle, PA, and to the dragstrips, where they watched him race with pride and excitement. He had a passion and knack for being ready for anything and a deep love for his beautiful cats, Punk and Junior, who were constant companions. David's life was defined by loyalty, humor, resilience, and a love that ran deep. His presence filled every room, and his absence leaves a space that cannot be replaced. Those who knew him will carry his laughter, his stories, and his unwavering devotion with them always and he was looking forward to becoming a great-grandfather in a few months.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Tammy S. Quaife; two daughters, Shandi L. Huto and her life partner, Jason Malone, Norfolk; Brandy M. DeLosh and her life partner, Michael Berry, Massena; his seven beloved grandchildren, Damion Barney, David Wright, Dolton Quaife, Domonic Quaife, Robert Quaife, Aurora Quaife and Contessa Quaife. In recent years, David's personal care aide, Brittanie Brock, and her family became an extension of his own. David was pre-deceased by his mother, Nancy A. Lytle;? his maternal grandparents, Wilfred and Diantha (Tucker) Lytle; his daughter, Danielle A. Quaife and two grandchildren, Sara A. Wright and Camden D. Grow.
