Mary E. Thomas Obituary
NORWOOD – A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary E. Thomas, 83, a resident of 55 Park Street, Norwood, will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at 11 a.m. at St. John's the Baptist Church in Madrid, with Rev. Garry Giroux presiding. Burial will be held in St. John's the Baptist Cemetery later this spring. Family and friends can call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Wednesday, April 15 from 4-7 p.m. Mrs. Thomas passed away early Friday morning at her son Scott's home after a lengthy illness.
Mary is survived by her companion, James Murray, Norwood; her four sons, Scott and Dana Thomas, Potsdam; Willie and Rommy Thomas, Alaska and FL; Eddie Thomas and Kelly Billion, Fulton; Chet and Nichole Thomas, Potsdam; her ten beloved grandchildren, Chris, Ryan, Emily, Noel, Brandi, Michael, Brian, Noah, Brody and Ryann Thomas; six step-grandchildren, Chelsie, Joey, Trey, Vivian, Matt and Addie; several great-grandchildren; a brother Robert "Bob" and Pattie Cline, Chicago, IL as well as many nieces and nephews. Mary was pre-deceased by her parents, Lawrence and Helen, her eldest son, Stanley "Stan" Thomas, a brother Edward Cline and two sisters, her twin sister Margaret Davis and Patricia Derenburger.
Born in Ogdensburg, NY on March 30, 1943 to the late Lawrence "Red" and Helen Bushaw Cline, Mary graduated from Madrid-Waddington Central School and later the Massena School of Business. Mary worked for many years as an accounting and billing clerk for Dr. Shields Office in Canton, NY. She was a communicant of St. John's the Baptist Church in Madrid and in her free time, Mary loved the outdoors, whether she was working in her gardens, fishing or hunting, she enjoyed it. She also enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mary's memory can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley or to St. John's the Baptist Church in Madrid and memories and condolences may be shared online at www.buckfuneralhome.com .
