NORWOOD — Duane M. Rasmussen, 83, a resident of 7 Noreen Drive, Norwood, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, March 9, 2026, at his home with his family by his side. Duane is survived by his wife of 61 years, Karen Rasmussen of Norwood; a son, Michael Rasmussen and his wife Kazumi of Hiroshima, Japan; and a daughter, Sherri Hennessy and her husband Timothy of Colton. He also leaves behind his eight beloved grandchildren: Jordan, Cole, Tara, Haylee, Kai, Kein, Jin, and Jayce. Duane was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Donna Rae.

Born in Tillamook, Oregon, on December 25, 1942, he was the son of the late Raymond and Donna James Rasmussen. Duane proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1968, including service during the Vietnam War. On January 22, 1965, Duane married Karen L. Almond in Alexandria, Virginia. He worked for the Verizon Telephone Company for 30 years, retiring as an engineer in 1998. Later that same year, he returned as a contractor and continued working until his final retirement in 2012. In his free time, Duane loved the outdoors, especially hunting, trapping, and fishing. He also enjoyed collecting guns and knives. Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his family, particularly his grandchildren. He often traveled across states just to attend their sporting events.
