RAYMONDVILLE- Graveside services for Douglas W. Harper, 72, a resident of Raymondville, NY, will be held in the spring at the Raymondville Cemetery. Mr. Harper passed away late Sunday evening at the North Country Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Massena after a brief stay. Douglas is survived by his daughter, Mindy and Jeremy Sorenson, Oak Creek, WI; his two grandchildren, Williamina and Eleanor Sorenson and one niece, Jamie Harper, Colton as well as a good friend, John Rose who was like a brother to him. The family is eternally grateful to John for all that he has done. He was pre-deceased by his parents Allen and Bertha and a brother, Kenneth Harper.


Born in Potsdam, NY on March 25, 1953 to the late Allen K. and Bertha Morrissette Harper, Doug graduated from Norwood-Norfolk Central School, Class of 1972. He served in the U.S. Army from 1975-1977. He worked for over 32 years as a custodian and for buildings and grounds for St. Lawrence County in Canton, retiring in 2011. In his spare time, Doug enjoyed being outside. He loved riding his trike and side-by-side, going for rides exploring the countryside and taking an occasional fishing trip and he looked forward to his daily trip to Tim Hortons for coffee and to visit.
