NORWOOD - A Mass of Christian Burial for Doreen D. Valade, 95, a resident of Baldwin Acres, Norwood and a longtime resident on River Road, will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026 at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew's Church in Norwood with Rev. Raymond Moreau presiding. Burial will be held in the Calvary Cemetery, Norwood, in the spring. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Doreen passed away just after the New Year on Thursday, January 1, 2026 at the Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center in Rochester after a brief stay, with family at her side.

Doreen is survived by her three children, Paul and Barbara Valade, Walworth, NY; Barbara and Glynn Royce, Port Charlotte, FL and Catherine and Joe Fritz, Punta Gorda, FL; her five beloved grandchildren, Michael White, Peter Valade, Kevin Valade, Christopher Muehl and Marissa (Muehl) Morrison; 4 great-grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren. Doreen is also survived by one sister, Marilyn Ayotte, Waddington. She is pre-deceased by her parents, her husband Pete and her five brothers, James Jr., Desmond, Lloyd, Eugene and Richard and three sisters, Delia Kulzer, Lorraine Oakes and Nora Edwards.

Born in Potsdam, NY on July 29, 1930 to the late James and Laura Dufore Oakes Sr., Doreen married Euclide "Pete" Valade on July 8, 1950. Together, they raised their family and Doreen also worked as an EKG Technician at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital for 17 years, retiring in 1991. Doreen was a devoted Christian, attending mass at St. Andrew's Church regularly, she also served on the church finance committee and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the CPH Retired Nurses Association. Doreen was very gracious in helping so many people over the years.
