Born on January 12, 1947 to Martin and Loretta Clohosey. She was raised in Colton among cherished family and friends including her dear sister Sarah and brother Jimmy. She enjoyed showing and racing horses as a young girl. As a teenager she loved skiing at the snow bowl and riding her motorcycle. She was a natural teacher and she fondly remembered coaching her little brother to drive. She graduated from Colton- Pierrepont Central School in 1965. She received her degree in Dental Hygiene at Erie County Technical Institute.

While she was away at college she met and married David Harvey. Many cherished memories were made while raising their three daughters. Mary orchestrated many family adventures that included camping at Higley Flow State Park, road trips, attending the 1980 winter Olympics in Lake Placid, decorating her home, most especially for the holidays. Baking during the holiday season for her young family was always a priority. Her favorite was decorating Christmas sugar cookies and many batches of Party Mix. Travel was an important aspect of her life. Mary's biggest adventure began when she moved to Jamaica. She spent several years living in Kingston where she met many wonderful friends and married Winston Metal Stewart.

Mary had a rewarding career of over 40 years, beginning at Herman-DeKalb School. She worked in many private practices in the North Country and eventually in Jamaica where she was proud to be a founding member of dental hygiene instruction at a local college in Kingston. Mary was very active politically. She participated in many protests throughout her life and enjoyed volunteering her time for causes that mattered to her. In her later years Mary made her way back to Colton. Mary loved to hear about her grandchildren and their various adventures. During this time she enjoyed mahjong, cross country skiing, side by side off road trips, watching Hallmark Christmas movies, reading, riding her motorcycle and kayaking with dear friends. A simple car ride with a friend was appreciated. She enjoyed spending time with her treasured friends, sharing laughs and adventures. Mary was a caring friend to many from childhood until her passing. She was helpful to many around her in their time of need. Mary was known for her generosity, caring nature and good mischief.
