MADRID - A gathering to celebrate the life of Bartholomew "Bart" W. Steinburg, 35, a resident of Madrid, will be held on Saturday, November 8th at 2 P.M. at the Madrid Community Center. Bart passed away at his home early Saturday morning, October 25, 2025. He is survived by his companion and life partner, Brandi Cardinell, Madrid, NY; a step-son, Brayden Cardinell; his two brothers, Bromlen Steinburg (Shannon Vogt) Morrisonville, NY; Quenton Steinburg, Madrid, NY; his two sisters, Cassandra Steinburg (DJ Ames) Canton, NY; and Zoe Hawkins, Madrid, NY; his brother-in-law, Michael Hawkins, Madrid and his niece and nephew, Autumn and Paul Ames, Canton, NY, as well as many extended family members, and friends. Bart was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Lois (DeGraaf) Steinburg, both residents of Madrid, NY, in 2014.
Born in Potsdam, NY on February 28, 1990 to the late Paul and Lois (DeGraaf) Steinburg, Bart attended St. Mary's in Canton for elementary school until 6th grade and then graduated from Madrid- Waddington Central School in 2008. After receiving his high school diploma, Bart joined the Marine Corp in 2008, serving until 2013 when he was honorably discharged. During his time in the service Bart was stationed in several places, including 29 Palms Military Base in California, Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, Indian Head Naval Support Base in Maryland, and even spent time in Japan. Bart was also stationed on the USS Iwo Jima for 8 months, spending time at several ports. After the Marine Corp, Bart attended SUNY Canton for Business Administration, making the Dean's list several times and eventually received an Associates Degree in Business Administration. After receiving his degree, Bart did not settle into one singular career. Instead, he completed odd jobs for family and friends, was self employed for a period of time, and most recently worked for AIM Services.
Bart had many passions in life. He enjoyed doing anything outdoors; tapping maple trees and producing his own maple syrup, vegetable gardening, spending time with his dog Rooster, and tending to his chickens. He was known to always be tinkering on something and had a willingness to learn new skills. He enjoyed spending time with his stepson and nieces and nephews. He particularly enjoyed sharing his wide variety of Knowledge and teaching them different things; from working on cars, to canning and preserving food. His resourcefulness, and ability to find a use for even the most seemingly useless items was amazing, even if it didn't make sense to anyone else. Bart will be remembered for being a one of a kind, kind of guy, caring for all his friends and family, even though that sometimes meant putting himself last. He was goofy, and you never really knew what ideas or plans he was going to think of next. You could always count on Bart for a laugh; if you weren't laughing during a conversation with him, you were still probably trying to figure out what he was talking about in the first place, or trying to understand one of his many wild philosophies on life. Memorial donations in Bart's memory can be made to the Veterans organization - Homeward Bound Adirondacks, 24 Depot Street, Saranac Lake, NY, 12983 to help other local veterans and memories and condolences in Bart's memory can be shared online at www.buckfuneralhome.com .
