Michael L. "Mike" Boprey Obituary

NORWOOD - A Celebration of Life gathering for Michael Leon "Mike" Boprey Sr., 83, a resident of Ashley Street, Norwood, will be held at the Norwood American Legion on Sunday October 12th, 2025 at 1:00 pm. Mr. Boprey passed away in the comfort of his own home under the loving care and presence of his family on Saturday evening September 20, 2025.

Mike is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rosemary; his three children, Barbara (Randall) Phelix, Mitchell, IN; Michael Boprey Jr., Norwood and Patricia (Patrick) Colbert also of Norwood; his 10 beloved grandchildren, Corinna (Dylan) Irwin, IN.; Brandon (Taylor) Phelix, IN; Christopher and Anthony Boprey, OH; Dominic, Breanna and Makayla Boprey, Norwood; Daniel Colbert (Natalie Darabon), Shannon (Rian) McFadden and Josiah Colbert all of Norwood. He was also blessed with five great-grandchildren, putting a final smile on his face are Ayla O'Brien, Cason Boprey, Jenna Irwin, Callum and Louella McFadden as well as many nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law Rosalie Bonkoski and Jeannie and David Gootz. Mike was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Richard and Robert Boprey, his sisters, Jacqueline Spencer, Bonnie Barnes and Loretta Cornell and their spouses, a very special sister-in-law Louise "Dolly" Speer and many other brother's and sister's-in-law.

Born at home on Park Street in Norwood, NY on March 20, 1942 to the late Edwin Boprey and Reatha Hall Boprey. He graduated from Norwood-Norfolk Central School in 1959. He enlisted in the U.S Army Reserves from 1962-1970. After 6 long years of engagement, Mike finally married his high school sweetheart, Rosemary Orologio on January 21, 1967 at St. Andrew's Church in Norwood. Together they raised their three children in which he was extremely proud of. He worked as an auto mechanic for the New York Telephone Company, retiring in 1995. After retirement, Mike worked at various places to keep busy including the Norwood Post Office, Advanced Auto, TJ Toyota and Community Bank. His interests included collecting state quarters, horses, Native American History and making his "donation" to the casino. Anyone who knew POP knew he loved a good hot dog, a bottle of wine and could deliver a one liner on any occasion. Mike was always busy wheeling and dealing, he had a love for classic fast cars and enjoyed building, restoring, painting and the mechanics of them. There was nothing he couldn't do. He was especially proud of his 57 Chevy that he completely restored himself in which he will have one last ride home in. Memorial donations in Mike's memory can be made to the family to be used for the Mike Boprey Memorial Scholarship fund to be given to an outstanding autobody student attending Seaway Area Tech upon graduation and memories and condolences made be shared online at www.buckfuneralhome.com.
