MASSENA -- Carol Jean (Kellison) Rhyne, 78, a resident of the St. Joseph's Nursing Home, Ogdensburg and formerly of Massena, passed away early Thursday morning, June 12, 2025 at St. Joseph's in Ogdensburg. Carol is survived by her daughter, Tammy (Terry) Newtown, Massena; her son, Scott Kellison (Jennifer Demo), Victor, NY; her four beloved grandchildren Kyle and Nicholas Newtown and Emily and Tyler Kellison: her seven great grandchildren and many cousins. She is also survived by her best friend "sister "of over sixty years Sharon McCabe of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and her yorkie Toby. Carol was pre-deceased by her parents, her husband John Rhyne and a special cousin Alma Kellison.

Born in Potsdam, NY on May 6, 1947 to the late Philip and Ida LaValley Jones, Carol graduated from Holy Family High School, Class of 1965 and then from The Utica School of Beauty where she obtained her cosmetology license. She opened Carol's Cut and Curl in Massena in 1970 and closed in 1993. She worked as a pharmacy technician for Massena Memorial Hospital for 22 years retiring in 2009 and in her free time, Carol enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling, over the years visiting 20 countries and 45 states. She was a loving and devoted mom and Grandma who always put others before herself, sometimes working two full time jobs to make sure they had more than what they needed. As per Carol's wishes there will be no public services. A private Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
