Barbara J. Colbert Obituary

Norwood- Barbara J. Colbert, beloved wife, mother, and friend passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025 at the age of 78. Long time resident of 452 Austin Ridge Road, Norwood.  Family and friends may call at the Bucks Funeral Home in Norwood on June 5, 2025 from 12:00-3:00pm. A funeral service will follow with mother Kathryn Boswell residing. Barbara will be laid to rest in the Foxwood Memorial Park, Ogdensburg.  

Barbara was predeceased by her husband Russell of 46 years, her first husband John W. Spotswood, her parents Paul and Leona Michaud, her siblings Howard, Robert(Bobby), Gloria(Morgan), Helen(Weegar), Douglas, and Richard(Dicky).  Nieces Bonnie Swinyer, and Connie Ling, Nephews Bobby Morgan, and Roger Weegar.

Barbara is survived by her son John W. Spotswood and his fiancé Coleen Goss, Myrtle Beach, SC: a daughter Sue(Spotswood) and her husband Douglas Schipper, Oswego, NY; as well as many nieces and nephews, Wayne and Heidi Weinhold, Judy (Morgan)Sharlow, Butch Morgan, Debbie and Doug LaFlair, Richard and Susan Morgan, Gary and Amy Morgan, Kevanne Strohmier, Tina and Dennis Halpin, Peter and Winnie Weegar, and many wonderful great Nieces and Nephews. 

Barbara was born on September 24, 1946 in Massena, NY to the late Paul and Leona Michaud.  Barbara will be remembered for her dedication to her family always caring for others, her warmth, and generosity.  As the youngest sibling Barbara always tried to keep the family connected. One of her proudest moments was reuniting with her nephew Wayne after her brother Howard and family were tragically killed in a train/car accident in 1958. She volunteered at the American Legion, the VFW, and she drove the DAV van. Barbara was an active and caring person who spent most of her life thinking of others. She truly appreciated all the friends and family who took the time to either call or stop by and visit her. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
