WINSTON SALEM, NC - Mr. Richard “Dick” Ellis Bailey, formerly of Hannawa Falls, passed away peacefully in Winston Salem, NC on December 21, 2024, where he resided since 2007. Dick is survived by his two children, Justin Bailey and Leeanna Perrigo, a granddaughter, Gabrielle Finen, cousins Elizabeth Sebald, Romi Sebald and Jennifer Sebald Peters. He was pre-deceased by his father, Carlton Bailey. Born on March 3, 1950 in Potsdam, NY, Dick graduated from graduated Potsdam Central School, Class of 1969. Dick was an accomplished pole vaulter and wrestler in school. Since a child, Dick had a talent for art, which later paved a successful career path selling over 100,000 prints to the North Country. He started his gallery out of his home in Hannawa Falls, NY in the late 80's and in 1997, he expanded his gallery to the St. Lawrence Center Mall in Massena, NY and later that year, Dick was selected as PBS’s Artist of the year. Dick's prints are fixtures in many North Country homes. His passion for people, art, wildlife and music will always live on thru the lives he has touched.
