POTSDAM – Graveside services for Gary J. Sullivan, 82, a resident of 262 Pumpkin Hill Road, Potsdam, will be held in the springtime at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Colton, date and time to be announced. Gary passed away on February 17, 2025 at his home. Gary is survived by his daughter, Susan, and her husband, James Candiloro, Voorheesville, NY; his two beloved grandchildren, Waverly and Brenden Candiloro; his brothers, Donald, Oregon and David, Arizona; and a sister, Carol Best, Potsdam, as well as several nieces and nephews. Gary was pre-deceased by his parents, and his wife, Brenda.
Born in Potsdam, NY on September 1, 1942 to the late John J. and Verona "Bunny" Dove Sullivan, Gary attended Potsdam High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1959-1963. He married Brenda J. Currier in October 1963. Gary worked for the town of Potsdam Highway Department for 16 years, retiring in 2005. In his free time, Gary was an avid outdoorsman and adventurer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to the family camp, the Sullivan and Sauer Camp, at Sevey's Corners. In his younger years, Gary embarked on many outdoor adventures, including canoeing the Allegash River over multiple days, and hiking up Mount Washington twice. He was a lover of animals, having adopted and cared for many dogs and cats over the years, most recently, his dog, Brandy, and his beloved cat, Little Kitty.
