Obituary of Lloyd "Buzz" Sawyer

NORWOOD—Funeral Services for 83 year old Lloyd J. "Buzzy" Sawyer, a winter resident of 1004 Hammock Road, Highland Wheels Estate, Sebring, FL and Norwood, NY, will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood with Dave Barnum presiding. Burial will be held in the Bixby Cemetery in the spring. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 2-6 p.m. Mr. Sawyer passed away on December 29, 2017 unexpectedly in Florida. Lloyd is survived by four children, a daughter Terry and her husband Terry Clark, Norfolk and their family, Carrie Clark, Jill and her husband Marty Blair and their sons Jaxson and Weston; a daughter Kathy and her husband Ricky Emlaw, Norfolk and their family, Timothy and his wife Cindy Tebo and their children, Aaron and Tyler; Chris Emlaw and fiancé Amy Fountain and their children, Ryan and Makenzi and her son Jaxon; Mathew Planty and his children, Cody and Lillian, Jake and Madison; a daughter Tammy and her husband Larry Clark, Norwood and their family, Chelsea Clark, Nicholas Clark, Troy Clark and Shelly and their children, Isiah and Noah; Shawn Clark and his children, Brytney and Alexis; Jason Clark and Maria and his children, Caitlin and Adriel and a son, Thomas and his wife Mitzi Sawyer, Raymondville and their family, Jessica and Tylor Fuller, and TJ. Buzzy was pre-deceased by his parents, his wife and a grand-daughter Heather Planty. Born in Norwood on December 15, 1934 to the late Edward and Lillian Oakes Sawyer, Lloyd received an Associate's Degree and worked at General Motors in Massena as a machine repairman, retiring after 30 years of service. He married the late Altha Reed on November 12, 1955. Altha passed away on May 23, 2014. Buzzy was a past member of the Norwood Fire Department and the St. Lawrence County Fire Chiefs Association. He along with his wife Altha, enjoyed spending time with their families and traveling, attending NASCAR races and Bluegrass festivals for many years.
